The name fat burning diet is misleading. There is no diet that burns fat. Fat loss only occurs from exercise.

If fat loss is what you want, you wont achieve it without exercise. But, you cant just do any exercise. Not all exercise burns fat. You are going to have to learn about fat burning exercise.

Correct.  A good way to describe a fat burning diet is to think of it as an eating program that enables your body to efficiently burn fat, when you exercise. You need to follow a fat burning diet, in conjunction with your exercise, or you will burn fat more slowly or perhaps not at all.

Diets Have Helped People To Lose Weight

Dieting has resulted in weight loss for tens of millions of people. However too many people think that the terms fat loss and weight loss are interchangable, but they are not. Dieting, by itself, does not result in fat loss if you do not exercise. Fat loss does not come from a diet, but weight loss can.

How You Get Fatter

It is easy to understand how you put on weight and fat.  By using fewer calories than you consume, you add weight and get fatter.

When the number of calories eaten is greater, the excess is stored on  your body as fat. For every 3,500 calories that you eat and don’t use, you put 1 pound of fat on your body.

If you apply logic to this, you would expect to lose 1 pound of fat from your body by eating 3,500 fewer calories than you expend. I am sorry to tell you that if you reverse the process you used to add fat to your body, you will not necessarily take it off.

Fat loss does not occur, if the only thing you do is reduce your caloric intake below the level of calories used.  If you do that, you will lose weight. The weight that you lose will be from reduced muscle mass and reduced water in the body. You will not have lost fat.

What Happens When You Diet And Dont Exercise

Your scales will show you what you want to see; that you have lost weight. However when you look in the mirror, you will still see the fat around your tummy, hips, thighs, legs or arms or wherever it was when you decided to “go on a diet”. Furthermore, whatever level of muscle definition you had – will be replaced by sagging skin.

To top it off, unless you stay on that diet for the rest of your life, you will put the weight back on. When you come off the diet, your body will replenish the water that you lost when you were on the diet. Additionally, it is not good for your health to be on a diet, for a long time, that reduces the water level of your body below what it needs in order to function properly.

You may say that it is unfair that the body operates in this way.  But you need to know how your body operates.

What You Need To Know About Eating To Burn Fat

It is about what, when and how to eat. The internet and bookstores abound with articles and books on what to eat in order to maximize fat burning. However, many people find that a fat burning diet is too strict for their liking.

If this is the case for you, just use common sense on what you eat. Obviously, it will not help you to lose fat if you eat regularly at McDonalds or if you eat a lot of pizza; nor if you drink a lot of beer.

If you use common sense on your selection of food to eat, and you follow a fat burning exercise regimen, fat loss will occur if you reduce the number of calories that you eat to less than the calories that you use. Having done that, when you eat and how you eat will play a much bigger role in helping to lose fat.
